A Few Days in Matheran: Our Travel Story

If you are from Ahmedabad, you probably know how refreshing it feels to leave the city for a few days and head towards the hills. Matheran is one of those places where you can actually slow down, enjoy the weather, walk through green trails and spend some good time away from the usual routine.

At Trekomania Adventures, we have taken 300+ travellers to Matheran, and every group has its own story. Some come for the trekking, some for the views, and some simply want a break with friends. What makes the trip special is that you get a little bit of everything in one journey.

Starting the Journey from Ahmedabad

Our Matheran tour starts from Ahmedabad and is planned as a 5 Days / 4 Nights trip. The journey itself becomes part of the experience because you are travelling with a group of people who are there for the same reason — to explore, have fun and take a break from everyday life.

By the time you reach Matheran, the change in surroundings is quite noticeable. The busy roads and city noise are replaced by greenery, forest paths and mountain air.

And that’s probably one of the best things about Matheran.

You don’t have to do anything complicated to enjoy it. Even a simple walk through the hills feels different.

Exploring Matheran

Once we reach Matheran, the sightseeing starts with some of the popular spots around the hill station.

Echo Point is one of the places everyone looks forward to. The valley views and the natural surroundings make it a nice place to spend some time with the group.

Then there is Charlotte Lake, which has a completely different feel. It is quieter, surrounded by greenery, and a good place to take a break from the walking and sightseeing.

We also explore Edward Point and Cecil Point, where the mountain and valley views make for some great photographs.

If you are visiting during the monsoon, the waterfalls can make the landscape even more beautiful. Depending on the weather conditions, the itinerary can also include the waterfall or reverse waterfall experience.

And before the day ends, there is time to explore Matheran Market and experience the local side of the place.

Places to Visit in Matheran

The Adventure Part

For us, Matheran is not just about sightseeing.

The trekking day is one of the parts that makes the trip more exciting.

The itinerary includes the option of a Garbett Plateau / Peb Fort Trek, which can take around 5–7 hours depending on the selected route and conditions. It is definitely more demanding than a regular sightseeing walk, but the views and the feeling of completing the trail make the effort worthwhile.

You don’t need to be an expert trekker to enjoy the overall trip, but you should be comfortable with walking and trekking if you are planning to take on the harder trail.

And honestly, walking together as a group makes the trek much more enjoyable.

There is always someone stopping for a photograph, someone making jokes, and someone asking, “How much more?”

That’s usually when the tiring part becomes fun.

What About Staying and Food?

After a full day of sightseeing or trekking, having a comfortable place to come back to makes a big difference.

Our Matheran package includes selected meals and accommodation arrangements along with sightseeing and instructor support. The current package lists 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners, along with sightseeing, instructor support and permit charges.

This means you don’t have to spend the entire trip figuring out every small arrangement yourself.

You can spend more time enjoying the place.

The Best Part? Travelling Together

One thing we have noticed on group trips is that people often start the journey as strangers and return home as friends.

There are conversations during the journey, photographs at every viewpoint, jokes during the trek, music in the evening and plenty of small moments that never really make it into the itinerary.

Those moments are often what people remember most.

A destination can be beautiful, but the people you share it with can make the trip even better.

A Few Things That Make Matheran Different

Matheran has a peaceful atmosphere that is difficult to find in a busy city. It is known for its forested surroundings and viewpoints, and the absence of regular automobile traffic inside the hill station makes the experience feel even more connected to nature.

For someone travelling from Ahmedabad, it is a nice change of pace.

You leave behind the usual traffic, work routine and city noise and spend a few days walking, exploring, eating together and enjoying the mountains.

That’s really what a holiday should feel like.

Is a Matheran Trip from Ahmedabad Worth It?

We would say yes — especially if you enjoy a combination of nature, trekking and group travel.

You get scenic viewpoints, forest trails, a trekking experience, time to relax, and enough activities to keep the trip interesting without making every minute feel rushed.

And because the journey is planned from Ahmedabad to Ahmedabad, you can enjoy the destination without having to arrange every part of the trip on your own.

If you have been thinking about taking a break from the city, Matheran can be a good place to start.

Maybe you will come back with tired legs after the trek.

Maybe your phone will be full of mountain photographs.

And hopefully, you will already be thinking about where to go next.
