Gulabi Kantha Trek
An offbeat 5-day trek through the Yamunotri valley's pink rhododendron forests and open bugyals, to a ridge at 12,400 ft.
About This Trip
Gulabi Kantha is one of Uttarakhand's most beautiful offbeat treks, located in the Yamunotri valley of Uttarkashi district. Sitting at around 12,400 ft, the trail is known for its vivid pink rhododendron (Buransh) forests and vast open meadows (bugyal) that stretch as far as the eye can see. Starting near Hanuman Chatti, the route passes through dense oak, deodar and rhododendron forest, small waterfalls and open valleys - a quieter, less-crowded alternative for trekkers looking to experience the Garhwal Himalayas away from the crowds.
Itinerary
A scenic drive from Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti in the Yamunotri valley, followed by a briefing and overnight stay.
The trail climbs through dense oak, deodar and vivid pink rhododendron (Buransh) forest, passing small waterfalls en route to the first forest campsite.
Continue climbing into open bugyal meadows, with the terrain becoming progressively more scenic as the trees give way to grassland, arriving at a high-altitude meadow campsite.
An early climb to the Gulabi Kantha ridge (12,400 ft) for panoramic views of the surrounding snow peaks and meadows, before returning to camp.
Descend back through the meadows and forest to Hanuman Chatti, followed by the drive back to Dehradun.
