About This Trip
Matheran is India's smallest vehicle-free hill station, located approximately 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune. During monsoon, the entire region transforms into a lush green paradise with mist-covered valleys, waterfalls, dense forests, and breathtaking viewpoints.
Important Notes: Matheran is completely vehicle-free; all sightseeing is done on foot. Horses and hand-pulled carts are available at your own expense. This is a backpacking and trekking trip involving long walks - avoid trolley and duffle bags, backpacks are highly recommended.
Itinerary
Overnight train journey from Ahmedabad / Vadodara / Surat.
Pickup from Bandra, breakfast en route, and arrival at the Matheran resort. Check-in & freshen up, followed by lunch at the resort and free time / swimming pool / resort activities.
Sightseeing Circuit: Eco Point, Charlotte Lake, Edward Point, Cecil Point, Waterfall / Reverse Waterfall (weather dependent), and Matheran Market.
Early breakfast followed by the Garbett Plateau Trek / Peb Fort Trek (5-7 hours). Late lunch at the hotel, rest & leisure time, swimming pool and nearby viewpoints, then dinner.
Evening Activities: Music & Garba, group activities, and a night jungle walk / night hike to a nearby viewpoint.
Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. Free time for the heritage toy train ride (self-sponsored) and exploring nearby viewpoints. Reach the Matheran parking area for an evening drop to Mumbai.
